Jaap van der Meer
Director of TAUS

Jaap van der MeerJaap van der Meer is a language industry pioneer and visionary, who started his first translation company in The Netherlands in 1980. In 1987, his company INK published the first desktop term extraction and translation memory software. He inspired and funded the founding meetings of the LISA organization for the localization industry and he co-founded the SAE TopTec Multilingual Communications Conference for the automotive industry. He was president and CEO of ALPNET one of the first and most successful NASDAQ listed translation companies. Jaap is a regular speaker at conferences and author of many articles about technologies, translation and globalization trends. He is also director of the TAUS Data Association.


Rahzeb Choudhury
Operations Director

Rahzeb ChoudhuryRahzeb is responsible for content, communications and delivery of all TAUS products and services. He previously held highly successful strategic development roles in the financial services and information sectors. He has overseen numerous global and international industry initiatives, authored articles on a wide range of topics, and is a prescient speaker. Rahzeb studied Economics and Philosophy and speaks Bengali, Dutch and English. A Londoner by birth, he now lives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.


Maxim Khalilov
Research and Development

Jaap van der MeerDr. Maxim Khalilov is responsible for Research and Development at TAUS. He specializes in building statistical machine translation engines and has had 30 publications published in scientific journals and proceedings. He has lived in Australia, Portugal, Russia and Spain. He now lives in the Netherlands. Max speaks English, Russian and Spanish.


Olga Migchels
Web Services and Member Relations

olgamigchelsOlga Migchels is responsible for web content management and member relations at TAUS. She was most recently a Secondary School teacher of English for five years, where she was responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating curricula and curriculum materials. Olga is a linguist, a lover of language who has a BA in Dutch Studies and Spanish and a BSc in Education (English Language and Literature). She has also held successful roles in international sales and has also worked as a freelance translator.


Andrew Joscelyne
Writer and Consultant

Andrew JoscelyneAndrew Joscelyne has frequented the European language industry for over 15 years, working as a journalist, consultant, analyst and writer. He has helped coordinate awareness raising projects on language technology for the European Commission, edited trade journals on translation and technology and carried out market research into automation solutions for numerous organizations.


Vinod Sudharshan
Software Engineer

vinodsudharshanVinod began his life as a software engineer at 15, when he got his first Nokia phone back home in Sri Lanka. He worked out how to make the icons looks better. After that it was a slippery slope into learning many programming languages. His autodidactic habits were distracted for a time when he worked as a private banker. Eight years on from his first Nokia experiences, he now lives in the Netherlands and is rounding off his knowledge by getting a formal software engineering degree. He is responsible for developments on the TAUS sites. Vinod speaks English, Sinhalise, and Tamil.


Anne-Maj van der Meer
Administrator

anne-majAnne-Maj van der Meer has studied English language and culture at the University of Amsterdam. She now looks after the financial administration at TAUS and TAUS Data Assocation as well as web management for TAUS and TAUS Labs.


Rose Lockwood
Language Technology Trend Watcher

Rose Lockwood has been an analyst of language technology and service markets since the early 1990s when she wrote the first ovum report on the localization industry. For several years she managed a pan-european network tracking language engineering research and development funded by the European Commission, and has carried out numerous research studies and consultancy projects for both public and private sector clients. She continues to maintain an interest in the innovative application of language processing, most recently in a project on semantic technologies for the enterprise.
