TAUS User Conference Program

E-mail Print

The TAUS User Conference is the once-a-year, non-sponsored event focused on translation automation, localization business innovation and industry collaboration. The User Conference is combined with the TDA General Meeting.

Theme: The Profit of Sharing

The TAUS mission is to increase the size and significance of the translation industry to help the world communicate better. The authoritative TAUS Community has learnt that the key word is 'sharing'. From genuinely sharing good practices and use cases TAUS has evolved to an industry platform for sharing of language data. These changes are fundamental. The results are already phenomenal. Boosting translation volumes and productivity help us all to reach new customers in new locales and innovate the business of translation like never before. The future of translation lies in 'sharing'. Join us at the TAUS User Conference 2009 to take the pulse on the future of translation.

Topics

The TAUS User Conference is open to all industry stakeholders to discuss topics, such as:

  • Optimizing translation automation
  • Innovating the cost and business model of translation
  • Industry initiatives for sharing language data

  • Next generation localization: ‘personalization'
  • Convergence of customer support and localization
  • ‘Crowdsourcing' translation or community translation
  • Shared investments in training domain-specific MT systems
  • Streamlining industry terminology
  • Defining new services for the TDA platform

Objectives

The objectives of the TAUS User Conference are:

Collaboration Pavilions

Every participating organization in the User Conference is offered a free booth in the Collaboration Pavilion. Content owners and buyers come to the Collaboration Pavilions to ‘sell' their needs and stimulate collaboration in their communities. Practitioners and technology providers come to the Pavilions to present and demonstrate their capabilities. The Collaboration Pavilions are laid out in squares. The middle of the square will be used for Pecha Kucha style presentations and open-space discussions. The 20x20 Pecha Kucha format (20 images, each shown for 20 seconds) will help to keep the presentations lively and to the point. They serve to inspire the audience and stimulate ideas for the subsequent open-space discussions.
