Report on the TAUS Summit, Cambridge

BostonThe TAUS Summit III held in Cambridge (Boston) on March 19 through March 21, 2008, focused on two themes - Localization Business Innovation and the TAUS Data Association. The sessions on Language Business Innovation examined buyers' needs for independence and flexibility in working with different language service providers (LSPs) and community-engaged translation (called 'crowdsourcing'). The discussions on the TAUS Data Association covered its business plan, its legal structure, and the next steps. The TAUS Data Association Business Plan and a draft of the Data Provider & Pooling Agreement, Data Donation Agreement, and User Conditions were available to all participants prior to the summit.

This TAUS Summit was the third in a series of summits that began in March 2007 (in Taos, NM), followed by non-plenary Steering Committee meetings in San Francisco in June and Boston in September, and the second summit in Belfast in October.

The original philosophy and vision underlying the TAUS Co-operative project can be found in part 1 of the comprehensive report of Summit 1, and the successive versions of the TAUS Prospectus, all available for TAUS members.
