As budgets are squeezed, content volumes grow at a staggering rate, and high quality remains a touch stone for paid for translations, the industry is in need of new technological solutions to help translators and the wider industry rise to new heights.
This report includes a comprehensive overview of advanced leveraging solutions and complimentary technological developments which provide significant opportunities to help increase leveraging, raise the consistency of translations and as a result increase productivity.
This report is an update of our initial “Advanced Leveraging” report dated October, 2007. While the original report covers the origins and theory of advanced leveraging (“AL”) and introduces several companies that have offerings that incorporate AL, this report focuses on changes in AL and related technological developments that have affected the market during the intervening years, as well as certain best practices that are emerging to enhance leveraging yields.
A number of translation technology providers have jumped on the AL bandwagon, and the corresponding marketing messaging has resulted in some diffusion of the concepts that lie behind the moniker. We spend some time in defining a baseline for AL technology as we view the concept, and the report highlights how certain providers deviate from that baseline.
We focus on complimentary technological developments and best practices that will help improve leveraging results, and include a comparative overview of the AL solutions currently available. The report concludes with a section on future developments to highlight decisions and scenarios that lie ahead for the industry.
